Gone With The Wind 1939

My Quick Thoughts:  Finally a movie that is worthy of the title of an American classic.  Today was the first time I watched all of Gone With The Wind, although I have seen bits and pieces over the years because well how can you not?  This movie had everything, love, war, betrayal, characters that you love, characters that you love to hate, and one of the best movie lines of all time.  It was a powerful love story without the traditional love story ending, which I loved.  At four hours in length this movie can be a little hard to get through (after the first disc I took about an hour break) but it's Gone With The Wind, an American classic, so you kind of get over that.

Favorite Quote:   "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."

What I Was Doing That Year:  I wasn't born yet.

Favorite Movie From That Same Year:  The Wizard of Oz

  1. VERY nice review, and totally agree; blew me away the first time I saw it, and love the ending - heartbreaking, with a breath of hope in the wind (no pun intended). SO glad you finally saw it, now try 'The Maltese Falcon' and 'My Man Godfrey' and 'The Women' and 'Casablanca' - among others!
